1. Food
Mannitol is one of the commonly used sugar alcohol substitutes and is often used in sugar-free chewing gum ingredients. Mannitol is the sugar alcohol with the least water absorption and can be used in food anti-sticking powder. Can be used for sugar-free chewing gum, the maximum amount is 200g/kg. JECFA confirmed that the ADI value is 0-50mg/(kg body weight·d). The US FDA stipulates the maximum use of mannitol in various foods as follows: mint 98%, soft candy 40%, hard candy 5%, preserves and ice cream 8%, cough drops 5%, jam and jelly 15%, gum candy 31%, other foods 2.5%. Mannitol is listed in the United States Pharmacopoeia, Natural Medicines, and pharmacopoeias around the world, including the Food Chemistry Handbook (FEC).
2. Medicine
Large infusion of injection, used to lower cerebral pressure, intraocular pressure, and eliminate cerebral edema; used as a diuretic; kidney function and intestinal examination; oliguria and renal failure caused by edema and burns, mannitol infusion has a certain effect; and amino acid preparation Compound infusion. Because of its good compressibility, it has become an excellent excipient in the pharmaceutical industry. In addition, mannitol mustard and mannitol dimethanesulfonic acid synthesized with mannitol as raw materials are anti-tumor drugs, which are suitable for chronic leukemia.
3. Chemical
Mannitol undergoes esterification and etherification to generate various resins and surfactants. Mannitol ester can be used as polyvinyl chloride plasticizer; polyurethane rigid foam based on polyether produced by polymerization of propylene oxide can be used as heat insulation, sound insulation and moisture-proof material.
This product is white crystalline powder; odorless and sweet. Easily soluble in water, almost insoluble in ethanol and ether. The melting point is 166-170°C. The boiling point is 290-295°C. It is relatively stable in a sterile solution and is not easily oxidized by oxygen in the air.
The injection is a sterile aqueous solution of mannitol, a colorless and clear liquid. Mannitol is a polyol sugar, and the osmotic pressure of 5.07% aqueous solution is equal to that of serum.
Its hypertonic solution has dehydration and diuretic effects. Very little absorption in the intestines after oral administration. Intravenous injection is mainly distributed in extracellular fluid. In the body, only a small part becomes glycogen in the liver, and most of it is excreted in the urine without changing.
Intravenous injection or intravenous infusion for 10 minutes starts diuretic effect, reaches the peak in 2-3 hours, and maintains 6-8 hours. Dehydration is effective in reducing intracranial pressure within 15 minutes for 3-8 hours, and reducing intraocular pressure for 30-60 minutes is effective for 4-6 hours.
In nature, the content of mannitol in seaweed and kelp is relatively high, and the content in the lotion washed by seaweed can reach 2%, and the lotion of kelp contains about 1.5%.
Bag, 25kg.
It should be placed in tight container, avoiding light.
There are two main processes for industrial production of mannitol in the world. One is to use kelp as a raw material. At the same time as alginate is produced, the iodine-extracted kelp soaking liquid is concentrated, removed, separated and evaporated for many times. Concentrated, cooled and crystallized; one is derived from sucrose and glucose through hydrolysis, epimerization and enzymatic isomerization, and then hydrogenation.
