Ethyl bromide is produced by reacting potassium bromide with frozen sulphuric acid and ethanol. It is commonly used for the ethylation of petrol, as a refrigerant, and as an anesthetic. 2. Ethidium bromide is the raw material for the manufacture of barbiturates. It is also used as a refrigerant, anesthetic, solvent, fumigant, organic synthesis, etc.
