Photoinitiator 2959 is a highly efficient non-yellowing UV initiator for initiating UV polymerization reactions of unsaturated pre-polymerized systems, particularly suitable for acrylate and unsaturated polyester resins requiring low odor and aqueous properties. The active hydroxyl group in the photoinitiator 2959 molecule allows it to react easily with unsaturated resins. It is suitable for use in regular Chemicalbook regulation UV systems and is suitable for use in aqueous UV formulations due to the hydroxyl functional group in the molecule which improves the solubility of photoinitiator 2959 in aqueous coating formulations. Photoinitiator 2959 is the only FDA-approved system that allows the use of photoinitiators with low odor, low volatility, and low yellowing for use in adhesives that do not come into direct contact with food.
