At high temperatures, it liberates nitrogen and produces potassium cyanide and ferric carbonate. Heating with dilute sulfuric acid produces hydrocyanic acid, ferrous sulfate, and potassium sulfate. Heating with concentrated sulfuric acid produces ferrous sulfate, ammonium sulfate, and potassium sulfate, and releases carbon monoxide. With a ferrous salt solution to produce Prussian blue. In contact with silver salt, copper salt, or zinc salt solution to produce the corresponding silver, copper, or zinc ferrous cyanide precipitation respectively.

This clarifier has strong protein removal ability but poor decolorization ability, and is suitable for the clarification of samples with light color and high protein content, such as dairy products and soybean products, etc. It can be used for the extraction and clarification of soluble sugars.
