Description of SM
Styrene, also known as ethenylbenzene, vinylbenzene, and phenylethene, is an organic compound with the chemical formula C6H5CH=CH2. This derivative of benzene is a colorless oily liquid that evaporates easily and has a sweet smell, although high concentrations have a less pleasant odor. Styrene is the precursor to polystyrene and several copolymers. Approximately 25 million tonnes (55 billion pounds) of styrene were produced in 2010.

What is SM?
- With the progress of science and technology and the development of society, chemical products have invariably permeated our daily lives, in medicine, food, cosmetics, electronics, industry, and other areas, becoming an essential part of our lives. One such product is Styrene which has developed particularly rapidly in recent years. Do you know about Styrene?
- The official answer: Styrene, an organic compound with chemical formula C8H8, the electron of vinyl is conjugated with a benzene ring, insoluble in water, soluble in most organic solvents such as ethanol, ether, etc. It is an important monomer for synthetic resin, ion exchange resin and synthetic rubber, etc.
What’s the application of SM?
The most important use is as a monomer for synthetic rubber and plastic used to produce styrene-butadiene rubber, polystyrene, foam polystyrene; also used in copolymerization with other monomers to manufacture a variety of different uses of engineering plastics. Such as copolymerization with acrylonitrile and butadiene to produce ABS resin, widely used in a variety of household appliances and industry; copolymerization with acrylonitrile to produce SAN is impact resistance, colour Chemicalbook bright resin; copolymerization with butadiene to produce SBS is a thermoplastic rubber, widely used as a modifier of PVC, polypropylene, etc…
