Description of seawatermagnesia
- Magnesium oxide (MgO), or magnesia, is a white hygroscopic solid mineral that occurs naturally as periclase and is a source of magnesium (see also oxide). It has an empirical formula of MgO and consists of a lattice of Mg2+ ions and O2− ions held together by ionic bonding. Magnesium hydroxide forms in the presence of water (MgO + H2O → Mg(OH)2), but it can be reversed by heating it to separate moisture.
Magnesium oxide was historically known as magnesia alba (literally, the white mineral from magnesia – other sources give magnesia alba as MgCO3), to differentiate it from magnesia negra, a black mineral containing what is now known as manganese.
While “magnesium oxide” normally refers to MgO, magnesium peroxide MgO2 is also known as a compound. According to evolutionary crystal structure prediction, MgO2 is thermodynamically stable at pressures above 116 GPa (gigapascals), and a totally new semiconducting suboxide Mg3O2 is thermodynamically stable above 500 GPa. Because of its stability, MgO is used as a model system for investigating vibrational properties of crystals.

Also can be used in the comprehensive utilization of seawater magnesium chloride brine block or bromine brine as raw material, add sodium hydroxide or sodium carbonate, etc. to generate magnesium hydroxide or alkaline magnesium carbonate precipitation, and then cauterized to get magnesium oxide. At present, China mainly adopts magnesite, dolomite, brine, or brine block as raw materials.

- 1, one of the main uses of magnesium oxide is used as a flame retardant, traditional flame retardant materials, widely used halogen-containing polymers, or halogen-containing flame retardant combination of flame-retardant mixtures. 2, another use of magnesium oxide can be used as a neutralizing agent, magnesium oxide alkaline, good adsorption properties, can be used as acid-containing waste gas, wastewater treatment, heavy metals, and organic waste treatment, and other neutralizing agents, with the increase in environmental requirements. Domestic demand is growing rapidly. 3, pressed fine magnesium oxide can be used as optical coatings. Coating thickness between 300 mm to 7 mm, the coating is transparent. 1 mm thick coating refractive index of 1.72. 4, used for climbing stone use, can absorb hand sweat, (Note: inhalation of magnesium oxide smoke can lead to metal smog disease.) 5, mainly used for the preparation of internal medication to neutralize excess stomach acid. Commonly used preparations are: magnesium milk – emulsion; magnesium cover tablets – each piece contains MgO0.1g; acid making scatter – magnesium oxide and sodium bicarbonate mixed into the bulk, etc. 6, light magnesium oxide is mainly used for the preparation of ceramics, enamel, the refractory crucible, and refractory brick raw materials. Used as a polishing agent, adhesive, paint and paper filler, accelerator, and activator of neoprene and fluorine rubber, mixed with magnesium chloride and other solutions, can be made of magnesium oxide cement. Used as antacid and laxative in medicine, used for excessive stomach acid, stomach, and duodenal ulcer disease. Also used in glass, dyestuff, phenolic plastics, and other industries. Food grade used as a decolorizer in sugar refining, Ph regulator for ice cream powder, etc. Use in papermaking, chemical industry, building materials, rubber, ceramics, animal husbandry, and manufacture of magnesium sand.
