What is the difference between L-lactide and D-lactide?
- By NMR, infrared spectrum cannot distinguish between L-lactide and D-lactide.
- The monomers or polymers of L-lactide and D-lactide can be distinguished by measuring their optical rotation.
- The needle-like crystal form of L-lactide is the same as that of D-lactide, the melting point is the same, and it cannot be distinguished by appearance. The racemic can be distinguished from the appearance.
L-Lactide Usage
As a polymerization monomer, L-lactide is mainly used for homopolymerization to obtain L-lactic acid. This homopolymer has optical activity, good stereoregularity, certain crystallinity and melting point, and good mechanical strength. Therefore, PLLA is commonly used in medicine to process bone screws and other orthopedic load-bearing bodies.

L-Lactide Storage
- This series of products are biodegradable materials. During storage, avoid contact with water, acidic substances, alkaline substances, alcohol reagents and other reagents that can cause product degradation.
- This series of products should be sealed, dry and low temperature (refrigerator frozen at -20 degrees) during storage, and sealed with a sealing machine (the remaining products after use should not be stored in ziplock bags).
- When using, take it out of the refrigerator at room temperature and leave it at constant temperature to room temperature to wipe off the moisture condensed on the surface of the bag before opening it. The air humidity of the environment during use should be less than 35% to prevent the remaining products from being damp and affecting product quality.
