Why glutaric acid is more soluble than succinic acid?

  1. This is not a problem of intramolecular hydrogen bonding. The carbon chain of carboxylic acid is also not a rigid chain. In the final analysis, it is a lattice energy problem.
  2. The melting point of oxalic acid, succinic acid and adipic acid is high and the solubility is low. The melting point of malonic acid and glutaric acid is low and the solubility is large.
  3. This is due to the large lattice energy of B, D, and adipic acid, and the large lattice energy includes two reasons, one is the close packing degree (similar to the change in the melting point of straight-chain alkanes), and the other is the intermolecular hydrogen bond (Amplified the aforementioned reasons).

Glutaric acid Usage

  1. Glutaric acid is the main raw material for the production of glutaric anhydride.
  2. Glutaric acid is used as an initiator in the polymerization of synthetic resins and synthetic rubbers.

Glutaric acid Packaging and Shipping

Packing: 25kg/drum by sea or by air.

Glutaric acid Storage

Warehouse ventilation and low temperature drying; Stored and transported separately from oxidants.

The product of glutaric acid heating is?

The H+ ionized by glutaric acid and OH- ionized by water combine to form water, and only a small part of the hydrolysis reaction proceeds, so the product is mostly glutaric acid and water, a small part of glutaric anhydride and H+, and less OH- .
