• Ethylene carbonate is the organic compound with the formula (CH2O)2CO. It is classified as the carbonate ester of ethylene glycol and carbonic acid. At room temperature (25°C) ethylene carbonate is a transparent crystalline solid, practically odorless and colorless, and somewhat soluble in water. In the liquid state (m.p.34-37°C) it is a colorless odorless liquid.

(2) Used in the synthesis of furazolidone (C8H7N3O5, [67-45-8]; this is a broad-spectrum antibacterial agent for the prevention of coccidiosis in chickens. (3) Used as fiber finishing agent and other processing aids. High purity can be used for rechargeable lithium-ion battery electrolyte; textile drawing fluid; directly used as a solvent for removing acid gas and additive for concrete; used as raw material for dysentery; used as plastic foaming agent and stabilizer for synthetic lubricant; excellent performance solvent and organic synthesis intermediate, a good solvent for polyacrylonitrile and polyvinyl chloride, basic raw material for the organic chemical industry, as hydroxyethylating agent and Chemical raw materials for organic synthesis, water glass slurry, fiber finishing agent.
