What is cyanamide?
- The chemical name of cyanamide is cyanamide, colorless, deliquescent, orthorhombic crystalline, melting point 450 ℃, solubility in polar organic solvents such as lower alcohols, esters and ketones is greater, solubility in non-polar solvents Small, the solubility in water is great.
- Monocyanamide contains a cyano group and an amino group, both of which are active groups, and are prone to reactions such as addition, substitution and condensation.
- As a chemical raw material, monocyanamide is widely used in manufacturing fine chemical products, pharmaceutical raw materials and pesticide raw materials.
- The specifications of monocyanamide currently have no international or domestic standards, and each production enterprise determines the enterprise product standards according to customer requirements. The current monocyanamide specifications mainly include crystal monocyanamide, 50% monocyanamide aqueous solution, 30% monocyanamide aqueous solution and 25% monocyanamide aqueous solution.
Cyanamide Usage
- Cyanamide, the trade name for calcium cyanamide, contains calcium hydroxide and carbon in small quantities as impurities. It is used as a fertilizer, the powdered form of which contains about 22% nitrogen.
- Herbicide, Plant growth regulator: A U.S. EPA restricted Use Pesticide (RUP). Not currently approved for use in EU countries (re-submitted). Used primarily as a plant growth regulator. Cyanamide may be melted to give a dimer, dicyandiamide or cyanoguanidine. At higher temperatures it gives the trimer, melamine, a raw material for melamine-formaldehyde resins.
