Climbazole Uses
Ganbaosu is a racemate composed of equimolar amounts of (R)- and (S)-ganbaosu. The IUPAC name is (RS)-1-(4-chlorophenoxy)-1-imidazol-1-yl- 3,3-Dimethylbutan-2-one is a topical antifungal agent used to treat human fungal skin infections. It can be included in over-the-counter anti-dandruff shampoo formulations and skin treatment compositions to treat dandruff and eczema where the cause is fungal infection. Ganbaosu mainly non-competitively blocks the synthesis of lanosterol 14α-demethylase (also known as fungal CYP51) in the P450 enzyme, thereby inhibiting the biosynthesis of ergosterol, an important component of plasma fungal cell membranes, and making fungal cells death.
It has broad-spectrum bactericidal properties. It is mainly used for anti-itching and anti-dandruff conditioning shampoos and hair care shampoos. It can also be used for antibacterial soap, shower gel, medicated toothpaste, mouthwash, etc.
