4-Hydroxyindole is a type of hydroxyindole. The 1H-indole at the 4-position is replaced by a hydroxyl group. It is an important raw material or intermediate for the synthesis of pharmaceutical products and industrial polymers. It is used as an intermediate in organic synthesis. Used as a production method of pharmaceutical intermediates. Resorcinol is used as raw material, isomerized, catalytically hydrogenated, and then cyclized with ethyl bromopyruvate to obtain 4-oxotetrahydrogumarone carboxylic acid. It is added to the methanol solution saturated with ammonia and heated in an autoclave to generate 4-oxotetrahydroindole. Finally, 4-hydroxyindole is prepared by dehydrogenation and isomerization.
