Preparation of 1-hexadecanol
It was first obtained by hydrolysis of spermaceti. In industry, it can be reduced by oils or fats or sodium borohydride to reduce hexadecanoyl chloride. Natural fats and oils are usually used as raw materials through esterification, high-pressure hydrogenation to make mixed fatty alcohols, and then rectification to produce 1-hexadecanol.

- This product is mainly used as detergents, surfactants, lubricants, pharmaceutical intermediates, spices and raw materials for daily use chemicals, paddy field heat preservation agents, analytical chemical reagents, and also used as gas chromatographic fixatives.
