Tazarotene (marketed as Tazorac, Avage, Zorac, and Fabior) is a third-generation prescription topical retinoid sold as a cream, gel, or foam. Tazarotene is a member of the acetylenic class of retinoids. This medication is approved for treatment of psoriasis, acne, and sun damaged skin (photodamage). It is commonly sold in two concentrations: 0.05% and 0.1%.

What is Tazarotene?

What’s the application of Tazarotene?

• Tazarotene is a third-generation retinoid dermatological drug, a vitamin A-like precursor for topical use in the skin, with effects such as regulating epidermal cell differentiation and proliferation and is mainly indicated for the treatment of plaque psoriasis Vulgaris. Tazarotene cream can also be used for the treatment of facial acne. It contains 15mg/30g of the active ingredient and is applied topically as a gel, with an appropriate amount applied to the affected area half an hour before bedtime each night. Before application, wash the affected area first, wait for the skin to dry, and then apply the drug evenly on the lesions to form a thin film; after application, the drug should be rubbed gently to promote the absorption of the drug. A pea-sized gel can cover a large area of skin lesions on the palm, and the area of application should not exceed 20% of the body surface area. Wash your hands with soap after rubbing the medication. Psoriasis is a common benign, acute, or chronic inflammatory skin disease. It occurs based on a genetic predisposition. Trauma or irritation of normal skin can trigger the appearance of psoriatic lesions (Koebner phenomenon): psoriasis has several different manifestations – the most common is the plaque type. The eruptive (punctate) form of psoriasis consists of numerous lesions of 3 to 10 mm. Occasionally it occurs following stress or strep throat. In severe cases, life-threatening forms such as pustular and erythrodermic psoriasis may occasionally occur. Sudden onset of plaque or generalized erythrodermic psoriasis may be associated with HIV infection.
