• Polidocanol is a local anaesthetic and antipruritic component of ointments and bath additives. It relieves itching caused by eczema and dry skin. It is formed by the ethoxylation of dodecanol.
  The substance is also used as a sclerosant, an irritant injected to treat varicose veins, under the trade names Asclera, Aethoxysklerol and Varithena. Polidocanol causes fibrosis inside varicose veins, occluding the lumen of the vessel, and reducing the appearance of the varicosity.
  The FDA has approved polidocanol injections for the treatment of small varicose (less than 1mm in diameter) and reticular veins (1 to 3mm in diameter). Polidocanol works by damaging the cell lining of blood vessels, causing them to close and eventually be replaced by other types of tissue.

It has a unique emulsification performance for stearic acid, paraffin, mineral oil, etc. It is a component of emulsifiers in polymer emulsion polymerization. It can also be used as an emulsifier for glass fiber lubricating oil. It can remove the dirt dispersed by the dyestuff set on the surface of a fabric, improve the detergency of sodium alkylbenzene sulfonate synthetic detergent, and reduce the electrostatic effect of fabric. Use as a leveling agent, such as direct, reduction, acid, disperse, cationic dyestuff dyeing leveling agent. It can be used as a diffusing agent to prevent the decomposition of some ice dyeing dyes from sticking to the fabric and causing pollution and to reduce the accumulation of scale on the cross-stick axis of color development.
