- 1-Methyl naphthalene is used as a surfactant for vinyl chloride fiber and polyester printing and dyeing carriers, as a heat carrier, as a pharmaceutical intermediate, as a sulfur extractant, as a plasticizer, and as a fiber dyeing aid. It can also be used as a diesel cetane determination agent, a solvent for pesticides and insecticides, and a solvent for the production of anthraquinone hydrogen peroxide. It is also used to produce plant growth regulator 1-naphthalene acetic acid. 2-Methylnaphthalene is mainly used to produce vitamin K3, polyester fiber dye carrier, fiber dyeing aid, organic pigment, concrete additive, detergent, emulsifier, hemostatic agent, wetting agent, plant growth regulator, beverage additive, feed additive, oral contraceptive, and color film dye, etc. 3. In addition, the intermediate phase asphalt can be prepared by HF/BF3 catalytic treatment of methyl naphthalene, which is a high-quality raw material for the preparation of carbon fiber.
