What is Magnesite?
- With the progress of science and technology and the development of society, chemical products have invariably permeated our daily lives, in medicine, food, cosmetics, electronics, industry, and other areas, becoming an essential part of our lives. One such product is Magnesite which has developed particularly rapidly in recent years. Do you know about Magnesite?
- The official answer:Magnesium carbonate is an inorganic substance with the chemical formula MgCO3, molecular weight 84.31, and relative density 3.037 [1]. It is a white granular powder. It decomposes at 350°C and loses carbon dioxide at 900°C. Slightly soluble in cold water and slowly soluble in acid. Its trihydrate is a colorless needle-like crystal, melting point 165°C, relative density 1.850. Its pentahydrate is a white monoclinic crystal, relative density 1.73, decomposed by heating in air. The hydrate can be obtained by passing carbon dioxide into the aqueous solution of magnesium salt while adding sodium carbonate, and the hydrate can be dried below 50℃ to obtain anhydrous material
What’s the application of Magnesite?
Food grade magnesium carbonate can also act as an alkalizing agent, drying agent, color guard, carrier, anti-caking agent, free flowing agent, nutritional supplement, PH regulator, processing aid, and release agent. Magnesium carbonate as one of the components of a defoamer can be used in wheat flour and protein solid drinks. Also, magnesium carbonate has the role of food additive in sports drinks. Used in the manufacture of magnesium salt, magnesium oxide, fireproof paint, ink, glass, toothpaste, rubber filler, etc. Used in food as a flour improver, bread puffing agent, etc. Neutralizing stomach acid medicine for gastric and duodenal ulcers.
