What is Flumethasone?

• 1,4-diene-3,20-dione, a medium-strength topical steroid, is a synthetic difluoroglucocorticoid with anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, vasoconstrictive, and anti-proliferative effects. the introduction of a trimethyl acetate group at the C-21 position makes 1,4-diene-3,20-dione difficult to absorb transdermally, which results in 1,4-diene-3,20-dione’s efficacy at very low concentrations. Salicylic acid has a keratolytic and desquamative effect and also helps to stabilize the protective acidic cortex in the skin. The addition of salicylic acid facilitates the penetration of glucocorticoids into the deeper parts of the stratum corneum and also accelerates and enhances the efficacy of glucocorticoids. The action of 1,4-diene-3,20-dione is often prepared as a compound 1,4-diene-3,20-dione ointment, which is an ointment formulation consisting of 1,4-diene-3,20-dione ointment and salicylic acid.
