4-Bromobenzaldehyde production method

It is prepared from p-bromotoluene through the following reaction: under light conditions, bromine is added dropwise to p-bromotoluene at 105°C from below the liquid surface, and the temperature in the early stage of the dripping is 105-110°C. The later temperature is 135°C.

After the addition, the temperature was slowly increased to 150°C, then calcium carbonate powder and water were added and stirred well, and heated to reflux for 15 minutes for hydrolysis. Then steam distillation is performed, the distillate is cooled, and the p-bromobenzaldehyde crystals are filtered out.
