• Octene is an important straight-chain olefin, commonly used as polyethylene copolymer monomer and raw material for the production of plasticizers, surfactants, and synthetic lubricants. Octene as a copolymer monomer produces polyethylene with excellent performance and high added value. Octene copolymerization produces linear low-density polyethylene ((LLDPE)) with high melt strength, good tensile properties, impact resistance, and environmental stress cracking resistance. It can significantly improve the mechanical processing properties, heat resistance, softness, and transparency of polyethylene. In terms of improving LLDPE tear strength and breaking strength, Octene is also significantly better than other а-olefins. In addition, Octene is also used to produce high and medium-density PE pipe, Octene copolymerized PE pipe has better toughness and better creep resistance, etc… At present, China’s polyethylene copolymer products are mostly 1-butene copolymer, in recent years, Qilu, Tianjin, Maoming, and other petrochemical companies have launched 1-hexene copolymer products, but the copolymer of ethylene and Octene is still almost blank (in recent years, Fushun Petrochemical has developed Octene copolymer products DP900), resulting in the slow development of high-performance polyethylene in China.
